Old Cooperians U14s won a hard fought match this morning against a much improved Basildon 33-17.

The home side started solidly, with O.C looking a bit rusty, however normal service was resumed once we started passing the ball before contact and shipping the ball wide, with Jayden Singh-Bal opening the scoreboard with a fine run from halfway.

Basildon tried to use their bulky forwards, but were driven back time and again by our excellent forward defence, spearheaded by Dan Morley, who picked up the opposition time and again and drove them into the hard ground.

Morley was next on the scoreboard with a quick tap and go by fly half Thomas Purton and a short pass to Morley who ran through the entire Basildon defence from halfway.

In the second half Teddy Monk found himself with space just outside his 22 and used his pace to race around the Basildon back line for another fine individual try.

Basildon didn't give up and got three tries of their own, but another try by JSB and a final short range try from Monty Valentine capped off a tough mornings work.

MOTM was Dan Morley, Reggie Marshall kicked 4 conversions.

The boys are now looking forward to their cup final next Sunday!
